Description:

The Sailor Hanafuda Ino-shika-cho fountain pen with a dark green body and black coloured cap represents the cooperation of three clans that possess unique skills: The Yamanaka clan, represented by a boar (ino), can read and take over thoughts. The Nara clan, with the deer (shikamaru) as its symbol, knows powerful shadow manipulation techniques, and the Akimiichi clan, like the butterfly (choji), can enlarge bodies and multiply power.

Hanafuda, which translates to 'flower cards', are traditional Japanese playing cards with a rich history. They originated from a blend of Japanese and Western card games introduced by Dutch traders in the 18th century, making them a fascinating part of Japan's cultural evolution.

These cards, with their beautiful images representing the twelve months of the year, have been used for centuries for various gambling games, including Godori. Each 48 cards in a standard deck carries a symbolic meaning interwoven with Japanese nature and culture. Due to their artistic value and historical significance, hanafuda are not only playing cards but also highly valued collector's items.

The Sailor KOP Hanafuda fountain pens with decorated ebonite bodies are made using Yubi maki-e, a technique in which patterns are printed on the material and then finished by hand. It is an affordable solution to enjoying Maki-e, and the method is sustainable.
