A few dozen kilometers from Bologna, in the hills separating Emilia-Romagna from Tuscany, you can find the Labante Caves, one of the most impressive travertine formations in Italy, with a length of 54 meters and a width of about 15 meters. The travertine that makes them up is a sedimentary limestone that is widespread in the area.
