Nakaya is one of Japan's oldest and most esteemed writing instrument manufacturers, with a history deeply connected to Platinum. Both brands share the same founder, Syunichi Nakata, who established the company in 1919. Over time, the Nakaya name disappeared, being replaced by Platinum.

In 2000, Nakaya was revived under the leadership of Toshiya Nakata, Syunichi Nakata's grandson. Today, only master Maki-e artisans and artists from renowned studios craft Nakaya's writing instruments. Their elegant, minimalist designs offer a universal, timeless appeal, while the exceptional lacquer and Maki-e techniques make each pen truly unique. These exquisite writing instruments are highly coveted, adding significant value to any collection.

Shinichi Yoshida, born in Hiroshima in 1964, plays a key role as the manager in charge. Having worked for Platinum Co. from 1991 to 1998, he joined Nakaya at Toshiya Nakata's request. Yoshida is now one of the company's most influential figures, designing pens and overseeing the artwork produced by Wajima artisans.
